Business Analyst, Talent Insights and People Analytics


Amazon’s Product Assurance, Risk, and Security organization (PARS) is looking for a forward-thinking Business Analyst to help build out our People Analytics and Talent Insights function.


The Business Analyst will be responsible for managing all data and research initiatives to assess the impact of our onboarding and cross-training programs within our Compliance Operations department, surfacing insights that help these programs continuously improve.


The analyst works independently, owning the end-to-end process of researching and analyzing impact and performance of training. They will be customer focused, collaborating with multiple business partners to extract from, and work with, diverse data sources to translate complex or ambiguous problems.


To be successful, the Business Analyst must dive deep into metrics and demonstrate a high-level of curiosity to overcome multifaceted analytical problems. They must also possess fundamental soft skills to earn the trust of their business partners to ensure access to sensitive data sources, forge collaborative partnerships to root-cause problems, identify solutions, and provide recommendations. They must be able to communicate complex concepts and present information to different levels of the organization.


The Business Analyst will seek to develop full-scale automated solutions that enable stakeholders to self-service access and independently query their workforce data.


Having advanced technical acumen in research, statistics, and data analytics methodologies is preferred. Proficiency in using software such as Tableau, QuickSight, Excel-Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power BI will be highly advantageous for this role. Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Python, and R is required.


This position can be based at Amazon locations throughout Europe with a preference for Luxembourg or The United Kingdom.


Specific Expectations

Inspector

· Inspects the adoption of our training mechanisms and their output to tell a clear story about program efficacy and effectiveness
· Assists stakeholders in determining what is happening, why, and what should be done when program performance is deficient


Builder

· Establishes processes and protocols for gathering and analyzing data as a founding member of the People Analytics and Talent Insights team
· Provides data that contributes to the Talent Development vision for the organization
· Uses advanced technical acumen to design automated and self-service data access points/dashboards; creating solutions that go beyond traditional approaches

Thought Partner

· Leads without authority to assist peers, leaders, and stakeholders in making data-driven decisions
· Engages in a consultative way to proactively define impact and performance of learning
· Develops and implements strategies to appropriately measure impact and performance of learning including credible business impact and return on investment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree (job specific experience can be used in place of formal education)
· Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
· 3+ years of relevant work experience in a role requiring application of analytics skills in a business analyst, data analyst, or statistical analyst role.
· 3+ years of experience developing requirements and creating requirements documents and process flows.
· 3+ years of SQL writing and data visualization experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Advanced technical or business degree (MS or MBA)
· 5+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst, data analyst or statistical analyst role
· Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling
· Experience in applying machine learning methodologies to educational data
· Strong background in statistical methodologies and their applications to business problems, and/or big data.
· Strong research track record
· Prior HR Business Intelligence experience
