Our mission is to break down the barriers of today to release the potential of tomorrow. Join us today and release yours.
There are two things that we want to share with anyone considering joining us.
Firstly, we’ve got big ambitions for our colleagues and the future of the organisation. These include our vision that inclusion and accessibility drive every conversation we have and every decision we make. We want our workforce to fully represent the communities and customers we serve, because a diverse business is a better business. We value every colleague, their diversity and the contribution that they make. When we say you’re welcome at Openreach, we really mean it.
Secondly, the one thing the pandemic has taught us is that a lot of current and future colleagues, where and when possible, want to embrace hybrid working. Therefore, we are introducing smart working at Openreach. Smart working means having the flexibility to choose, as a team, how and where you work depending on your team’s deliverables and needs; when you are at your shared core location to connect with others and when not. It may not be for every role, and, as part of the recruitment process, you’ll have the chance to discuss smart working and how it might work for the job you are applying for.
About this role
The Exchange Exit Program will reduce Openreach and its Communication Providers (CPs) presence from 5,500 exchanges to an enduring number of 960, enabling the closure of those buildings. The focus initially is on the closure of 100 “High Priority†buildings by 2030. These exchanges are all highly complex. Exit requires 100% migration to our strategic fibre products, as well as migration of all leased lines terminating at the closure exchanges to new parents (c40k leased lines in the priority 100 exchanges).
To make this work we have to leverage our existing major enabling programs - our FTTP rollout and “All IP†migration. In the first 2 years there are 5 key deliverables that will create the right foundation for long-term success.
Your impact will be through influencing key parts of Openreach. You will have a good background in build and network rollout, combined with a strong strategic and planning focus and excellent communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal. You will be key member of a small team that as well as driving exchange exit, will be at the forefront of the next wave of Openreach transformation as we retire our copper infrastructure.

Drives broad collaboration with other business segments to encourage knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement
Lead and deliver within a large virtual team
Drives the agenda with cross-functional working teams, and working teams of our customers (communications providers)
Identifies improvements in working processes across commercial and propositions
You'll have the following skills & experience
Educated to degree level, with a working understanding of Business, Marketing, Finance
Excellent Excel skills and ability to utilise data manipulation tools to lead key initiatives driving revenue and profitability for Openreach.
Ideally SQL experience, and ability to scope and drive data analysis by others
Strong influencing abilities with peers in cross functional teams as well as Director-level management to agree defined requirements
Strong commercial acumen, financial and analytical skills - proven ability to create and underpin complex business cases and track benefits realisation
Benefits
As well as offering a competitive base salary, you’ll also have a rewarding bonus scheme, access to equity schemes and an attractive pension offer.
We value different perspectives, skills and experiences. Diversity makes sense for us, our customers and our ambitions. We’re creating an inclusive working culture where people from all backgrounds can succeed. That’s why we welcome applications from all parts of the community.
