Job Description

Our mission is to break down the barriers of today to release the potential of tomorrow. Join us today and release yours.

There are two things that we want to share with anyone considering joining us.

Firstly, we’ve got big ambitions for our colleagues and the future of the organisation. These include our vision that inclusion and accessibility drive every conversation we have and every decision we make. We want our workforce to fully represent the communities and customers we serve, because a diverse business is a better business. We value every colleague, their diversity and the contribution that they make. When we say you’re welcome at Openreach, we really mean it.

Secondly, the one thing the pandemic has taught us is that a lot of current and future colleagues, where and when possible, want to embrace hybrid working. Therefore, we are introducing smart working at Openreach. Smart working means having the flexibility to choose, as a team, how and where you work depending on your team’s deliverables and needs; when you are at your shared core location to connect with others and when not. It may not be for every role, and, as part of the recruitment process, you’ll have the chance to discuss smart working and how it might work for the job you are applying for.

About this role

Understanding the demand for our products is critical to the business. We need to ensure we’ve got just the right resources – in total and skill sets – to deliver for our customers in an efficient way. Too few and we’ll struggle to deliver, too many and we’re wasting money. Our team is the critical, unbiased and independent view of the potential impact.

This role is responsible specifically for the Low Bandwidth products within our Ethernet portfolio (which provides fibre-based point to point connections to end customers across the business access market).

The forecasting manager will be responsible for accurate forecasting of new connections, rental base and revenue of the 100 Mbit/s and 1Gbit/s products across the UK. As well as enabling Openreach to plan the resource needed to deliver connections on time for end customers, manage supply chains and understand the financial impact the insight this role will provide will support key commercial and operational decisions.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • To lead EAD volume and revenue forecasting within Openreach
  • To work with the Sales & Relationship teams and CPs to obtain a geographic view of demand for EAD
  • To assess the impact of special offers, discounts and bespoke pricing to demand patterns, by region where appropriate.
  • To assess the impact of substitutional products such as FTTP on EAD demand
  • To track the progress of major projects against forecast
  • To be accountable for the EAD demand, completions, ceases and revenue forecasts; explaining key drivers and changes to the business.
  • To support the sales, finance, commercial, strategy, product and capacity planning teams in using the forecast
  • To provide ad hoc analysis around EAD to support business decisions
  • To identify, raise and track risks and opportunities against the EAD forecast.
  • To ensure understanding of the EAD delivery process and factors affecting EAD completions.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to turn data into forecasts
  • Able to deal with contradictory information and to extract key ‘signals’ from conflicting data using judgement
  • Able to challenge, influence and negotiate
  • High level of business acumen, focus and strong commercial experience/judgement
  • Good people skills; able to develop relationships with stakeholders and to work as part of a team
  • Able to cope with large datasets and complex excel models.
  • Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture
  • Able to adhere to tight timescales and to deliver to deadlines
  • Forecasting experience essential
  • Business experience in a numerate role

Benefits

As well as offering a competitive base salary, you’ll also have a rewarding bonus scheme, access to equity schemes and an attractive pension offer.

We value different perspectives, skills and experiences. Diversity makes sense for us, our customers and our ambitions. We’re creating an inclusive working culture where people from all backgrounds can succeed. That’s why we welcome applications from all parts of the community.
