Insurance and Wealth helps personal and business customers with their long-term protection, retirement, and investment needs. We support around 10 million customers with assets under administration of £155 billion and annuity payments in retirement of over £1 billion every year. 

You’ll be joining us in within the Bulk Annuity Pricing Services Team. We’re responsible for implementing the pricing strategy for Bulk Annuities, working closely with the Insurance Origination business to deliver a large number of quotes, using live market data, demographic and capital assumptions.

As an actuary in this team, your focus will be on pricing processes, efficiently and effectively producing high quality bulk annuity quotes. Your remit will also include driving operational improvements within the team and working with colleagues across Insurance Finance on ad-hoc tasks where pricing expertise is needed.

Our team works out of our London and Edinburgh hubs, therefore ideally you'll be based a commutable distance from one of these areas however, location can be flexible for this role due to new ways of working. We work in a hybrid model, splitting our time between the office and working from home but colleagues have flexibility to choose where they work from.

Would you like to further develop your Actuarial career, at the forefront of Bulk Annuity Pricing?

• On a typical day, you may be producing cash flow projections used to calculate premiums for bulk annuity quotations, or supporting colleagues with other tasks linked to bulk annuity contracts already in place.

• Your accountabilities will include:

• Validating and manipulating large complex data sets

• Analysing reinsurance quotes to understand cost vs benefit

• Developing and maintaining an in depth technical knowledge of our models and products

• Summarising and presenting complex technical information

• Delivering high quality results to strict deadlines

• Calling out, managing and mitigating risks in a timely manner

What you'll bring to this role?

It’s essential that you’re:

• A nearly qualified or qualified Actuary, or have gained significant actuarial experience within a similar pricing role

• Commercially minded and have had some previous exposure to pricing and/or quotation activity

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

And desirable that you have:

• Knowledge of Prophet

You’ll also have well-honed analytical skills, great attention to detail and be able to communicate credibly and clearly to colleagues and partners at all levels.
