Role: BI Design Lead
Function: Decision Science
Location: London/Dunstable hybrid working model
Employment Type: Full-Time & Permanent
This role combines technical and analytical expertise with an understanding of business process and priorities to act as a ‘critical friend’ to one or more functional leaders, and to ensure timely delivery of BI solutions, either directly or through the BI Development team
What you will be doing:
- Work with key stakeholders to develop a roadmap of BI work within functional business areas
- Work with stakeholders to agree scope and design of any BI/data product output being produced
- Develop new/enhanced reporting and/or visualisation of data to support effective decision making.
- Effectively communicate the priority of development items.
- Work with BI developers in the capacity as project lead on key BI programmes of work
- Provide technical/best practice advice and support to the wider BI team where required.
- Work with the BI Development Manager to agree the right level and skill set of developer support on projects.
- Become the BI SME for key functional areas in the business and represent the BI team in an advisory capacity when discussing changes to business processes
- Ensure that work produced is fully future proofed and documented as a productionised data source
- Work at pace to produce insightful analysis to answer key business questions, with output used at ExCo level to drive high value decisions
- Work with IT colleagues to manage the UAT/design specifications of tables within the database that underpin BI
- Work with key stakeholders across the business to design and improve processes for data ingestion from functional teams
Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of KPIs and the principles behind devising measures of business performance that are impactful and methodologically sound
- Understanding of what makes a great data visualisation
- Understanding of commercial and operational levers that may be used to drive business performance
- Strong SQL development and database skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong communications skills with ability to translate complex requirements between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent organisational, planning and attention to detail skills
- Naturally inquisitive, curious with a passion for problem solving
- Intermediate/Advanced experience of using PowerBI or Tableau to land high quality reporting products
- Proven history of using BI tools and skills to land high-impact data projects that drive business change
