We wish to recruit a bank of “as and when” staff to assist us to deliver a high-quality service to young people 365 days per year in our supported accommodation services.

Supported Accommodation Services in Lancashire

Barnardo's provides supported accommodation to young people aged 16-24 across seven sites in Lancashire. The services aim to provide young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for independent living. The young people who live in our accommodation are from a range of backgrounds and are often either in the process of Leaving Care or have experienced homelessness. The services are staffed 24 hours per day by a dedicated team. Young people can live within our accommodation for up to 2 years so that they can move on successfully to their own accommodation in a planned and coordinated way.  

The services that this post links to are: 

• Merriweather â€“based on Fishergate, Preston and provides accommodation and support for 11 young people at any one time. The young people each have a bedroom and share communal kitchen and living room facilities
• Preston Foyer â€“ based on Lawson Street, Preston and provides accommodation and support for 16 young people at any one time. The young people each have a self-contained 1 bedroomed flat.

There is also the opportunity to work at other Barnardo's services across Lancashire if this is something that successful candidates are interested in.

Initial Specific Responsibilities

24 hour staffing 7 days per week is required in all areas and we wish to add to our existing bank of reliable and high quality workers to assist us in the delivery of these services. We regularly need additional staffing cover, particularly in the event of staff vacancies or illness, and wish to identify suitable individuals to provide this vital service.

Working Hours

The successful candidates will participate in a rota that covers 7 days per week and 365 days per year. At the moment all of our Project Workers at Merriweather and Preston Foyer work a mixture of the following shifts:
08:00 – 16:00
11:00 - 19:00
14:00 – 22:00
21:45 â€“ 08:15
