Salary: £36,000 – £38,500 (per annum)
Reports to: Interim Head of HE
Responsible for: Senior Lecturers and Lecturers
Role purpose: to lead and develop high quality dance education activity delivering the objectives of the Dance City’s higher education programmes, particularly the BA (Hons) Professional Dance and, as required, the MA Advance Dance Performance, delivered in partnership with Sunderland University. The post holder will be responsible for managing and the delivery of teaching and learning activity in studio and classroom settings and, where necessary, online. They will be a dance specialist and have knowledge of High Education.
About the role of BA & MA Programme Leader:
Dance City is seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking Programme Leader to manage both the BA (Hons) Professional Dance and MA Advanced Dance Performance, delivered in close partnership with University of Sunderland. The successful candidate will be an organised and enthusiastic manager with experience of teaching and leading activity up to Level 7, with excellent administrative skills and a commitment to the pastoral care of students. They should have teaching expertise in at least two of the following: contemporary dance technique(s), ballet, dance techniques outside the Western concert dance lineage, dance performance, choreography, dance/arts administration and management, dance teaching and leading (curricular and extra-curricular/community dance), and/or dance history, analysis and research/scholarship. The role is hands-on, and the new Programme Leader will be required to work mostly from Dance City buildings in Newcastle and Sunderland.
