The Data Team within Asda Technology has an exciting opportunity for an Azure Cloud Support Specialist to join us within our Service & Support function. Asda is currently investing heavily in its data landscape, and this is a brand new role with the opportunity to shape and add lots of value to several exciting projects that are part of Asda's strategy. This will include involvement in Asda's separation from Walmart; one of the largest retail transformation programmes in the world.
As our Azure Cloud Support Specialist, you will lead and oversee all elements of the Asda Data Azure infrastructure and initiatives, including ticket management, network/infrastructure/systems management, project management, and data administrative tasks.
The successful candidate will report to the Data Service & Support Manager and will also work with the team on various ad-hoc pieces of service and support within the team.
Your Role
- Administration of Azure SQL Database services for Data, working closely with Infrastructure
- Incorporating governance strategies for technology lifecycle, security, compliance, operational performance, and user experience
- Implement and monitor Azure security best practices to comply with industry-standard frameworks and policies
- Troubleshoot cloud, network, and infrastructure-related problems working different areas within technology
- Act as primary liaison with the external managed service provider to ensure ticketing system is working efficiently and meeting the needs of the organization
- Create and maintain systems documentation and user guides
- Manage the technology orientation process for new employees
- Build and set up new development tools to improve automation and code deployment, with a focus on Azure operations and application deployment/configuration.
- Provide reporting from Azure on costs, resource utilisation, resource status etc
- Monitor system and application performance and recommend and implement any performance improvement enhancements.
About You
- Experience in Microsoft Azure and its relevant build, deployment, automation, networking, and security technologies in cloud and hybrid environments
- Must be fully knowledgeable and able to vision & strategize design & plan, and build & own IT solutions in Cloud-Centric Technologies: Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, ADO pipelines, CI / CD, Infrastructure as Code, Azure Landing Zone, Azure services & networking, Cloud Well-Architected Frameworks, Terraform and cloud security
- Must be fully knowledgeable and understanding of Microsoft Identity and Access Management products such as Azure AD, ADFS, Azure AD Connect, Conditional Access, Azure AD Proxy, SAML and Active Directory Domain Services
- Good technical knowledge of infrastructure services and distributed systems which may include prior hands-on experience as a Solutions Architect, Systems/Network Engineer or Cloud Engineer
- Good working knowledge of relevant industry-standard methodologies, frameworks and best practices (e.g. ITIL)
- Experience in managing a team of colleagues, including clients and 3rd parties with excellent leadership skills
