Summary of Role:
Raytheon UK are a leading International Defence & Security prime and are looking for an Engineering Lead for a large program within the Raytheon Government services portfolio.

The AVON Engineering Lead will be accountable for all customer deliveries, engineering resourcing, partner engagement and prosecution of Engineering strategy across a program which employees many hundreds of Raytheon employees and subcontract staff. The AVON Engineering Lead will work closely with the AVON Chief Engineer, AVON CTO and report into to the Head of Engineering for the Cyber, Space, and Training (CST) Business. Main duties are:

  • Own the engineering relationship with the business and manage the engineering response to PQQs and ITTs within the programme portfolio.
  • Take complete responsibility for the delivery of software related products and services that the engineering function have committed to the business.
  • Working with a team of capability leads support the development of solutions to meet customer requirements to time/cost/quality across a range of government client areas.
  • Work closely with the Program Engineering Manager to manage costs and ensure staff development, resources management and recruitment plans meet RTXs growth goals.
  • Build and sustain relationships with customer stakeholders; understand and communicate their engineering priorities to the business.
  • Work with the Chief Engineer, CTO, CST Head of Engineering and the Business Development team to develop a technical strategy to align RTX with our customers long term goals.
  • Work with our subcontract partners to expand the RTX ecosystem.
  • Through the TRT LTO ensure our partners engage with RTX and align with our customers aspirations to create a ‘One Team’ approach to delivery with an open, positive and respectful culture.
  • Maintain internal Raytheon controls and provide reporting on staff deployment, project performance, team utilization and recruitment plans.
  • Monitoring of project and programme risks, issues and opportunities. Develop effective tools and processes to ensure risks & issues are quickly visible and assist in the formulation of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide Line management to the senior engineers and managers within the program and ensure that staff development and retention is given a high priority from the top of the organisation.
  • Working with HR and the wider business develop policies to maximise staff retention and minimise attrition risks. Ensure that equality and diversity is encouraged and nurtured.

Candidate Requirements:

This role would suit someone who has worked as a Senior Engineering Manager running large scale engineering programmes delivering highly complex software systems to government authorities.

Essential:
Leadership experience, including but not limited to the following:

Track record of delivering large & complex systems within large organisations

Demonstrated competency for strategic thinking and thought leadership with strong relationship management with customers, suppliers and industry bodies.

Extensive experience in building and managing multi-discipline, high-performance teams (cross-functional experience highly desirable).

Managed financial resources to meet goals and multiple schedules.

Demonstrated competency in relating efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.

Proven ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team and ability to direct large teams to meet tight deadlines.

Proven strategic planning and execution experience.

Demonstrable experience in driving change management programmes through to success.

Desirable:
Experience delivering software systems to military or government environments.

Experience in Agile and Scaled Agile delivery programs

Experience in managing complex and competing customer / stakeholder relationships within UK government or defence .

Member of a relevant Professional Institution.

Must be willing and eligible to hold SC security clearance and possibly obtain DV clearance if required.
