JOB DUTIES:

The Automation Engineer position's early deliverable focus is often on troubleshooting autonomy system issues, subsystem testing and overall autonomous system integration, but may also include some directed development efforts. This generally includes efforts to grow knowledge of onboard system design work that integrates with current machine systems.

Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following: perform needs analysis and initiate ideas; evaluate new products, processes or systems; communicate results to team members; contribute to the design of new products and processes; perform product and process maintenance; support other engineers, customers and suppliers.

Basic knowledge of existing external automation solutions and algorithms is helpful to provide a good base for advanced learning. Knowledge of existing internal automation programs will need to be developed. Both new application development and modifications to efforts will be needed, so the ability to have a systems focus and learn how subsystems interact is important.

The position responsibilities include a strong quality focus through significant interaction with integration points including: Software in the Loop (SIL), Hardware in the Loop (HIL), Simulation, Substitute machine testing, and actual machine testing.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

• A bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum, automation technologies and application development.

• Must have strong problem solving skills, analytical skills and the ability to communicate technical information effectively

• Strong data analysis and system integration skills are needed

• Ability to keep up with industry trends and new technology breakthroughs is important.
