The Financial Operations directorate within the Treasury manages complex risks on the Crown's balance sheet and is responsible for managing the Government's borrowing needs. We also provide corporate treasury-type services to departments and Crown entities as well as managing risks related to funding, credit, cash flows and market conditions.

Mō te tūnga | About the Role

Within Financial Operations, the Risk Policy team has responsibility for the management of Financial Operations middle office risk and compliance function. We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and skilled Risk Analyst to join our team and be responsible for maintaining a high standard of financial risk valuation and measurement across portfolios.

  • Ensure accurate valuation and measurement of financial risks across portfolios
  • Assist in the development, and implementation, of risk measurement techniques and policies to ensure effective risk management of Financial Operations assets and liabilities
  • Contribute to building an effective risk management culture in Financial Operations and across the Treasury, and
  • Conduct proactive and effective management of relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Mōu | About You

This role would suit an early in career finance and/or risk professional, with high capability and a strong track record of performance. You may be currently working in a risk management/middle office function in the banking/financial markets sector or within the public sector. You will be curious, enjoy learning and are passionate about growing your career in risk. Your exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities will be coupled with highly developed oral and written communication skills.

In addition to your technical risk management and/or financial markets skills you will have:

  • Experience and/or a strong understanding of risk management, financial markets, or a Treasury role
  • Great interpersonal skills and an ability to work constructively as part of a team
  • High standards of professional conduct and integrity, including ethical standards relevant to financial markets
  • A postgraduate qualification in finance, economics, or other appropriate discipline
  • You may also have completed Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) study (desirable but not essential).
