Corporate & Institutional Coverage (CIC) is a core coverage business within Commercial Banking, operating across the UK, Europe, and North America is responsible for the management of relationships with the larger commercial clients. Consisting of 7 Sectors – Services & Public Sector; Industrials, Infrastructure & Europe; Consumer & Tech; Sustainable and Natural Resources; Financial Services; Sponsors & Structured Finance; Real Estate & Housing.

Real Estate & Housing Private Groups Scotland looks after our Scottish offering to the industry with over 35 clients and assets exceeding £400m, with activities ranging from specific bi-lateral Residential and Commercial Development projects to Residential and Commercial Investment across sub-sectors of Real Estate on both bi-lateral and syndicated basis, with a mandate for further growth.

We're looking for a strong performing individual to work in the Private Groups team, supporting a Relationship Director, alongside two associates with an active and growing key portfolio across Scotland. This role provides the opportunity to assist in driving our targeted growth aspirations for the region, honing marketing / relationship skills and ensuring we're balancing risk, profitability and management of the bank’s capital. Regional Acceleration and ESG are key priorities for our industry and the CIC / RE&H business.

Sector knowledge while advantageous is not a prerequisite; we're seeking a motivated and conscientious individual who is keen to develop their relationship management skills. The candidate will be SMCR accredited or expected to complete SMCR accreditation on appointment.

You'll get the opportunity to assist in driving our targeted growth aspirations for the region, honing marketing / relationship skills and ensuring we're balancing risk, profitability and management of the bank’s capital. What you'll get involved in:

  • Build upon a designated portfolio of customer relationships to anticipate and satisfy customers’ strategic requirements in a ‘Client First’ manner. Working in close collaboration with product partners across the Bank to bring appropriate products and services to clients

  • Assess and structure new business proposals and prepare Credit / Investment papers together with coordinating existing day-to-day portfolio management in conjunction with the Relationship Director.

  • Negotiate terms and conditions of credit facilities and services and prepare proposals to seek approval. Ensure legal and other documentation are aligned with credit sanction, bank and regulatory policy and work closely with the Debt & Transaction Execution team when appropriate

  • Help to champion changes to Bank policies, systems, processes and working practices to achieve operational improvements e.g. Simplification and any issues are satisfactorily resolved.

  • Demonstrate strong alignment to the journey to Net-Zero, assisting in all aspects of ESG delivery and enhancing client interactions with a view to delivering measurable success in decarbonising the Client portfolio

  • Strong adherence to MIFID, Financial Promotions, FCA regulation in the context of being the ‘Best Bank for our Customers’ and Helping Britain Prosper. In conjunction with our 4 Group Values of trust, people first, inclusivity and innovative thinking.

If you manage certified colleagues this role will be identified as Manager of certification employees under SYSC 27.8.13R as defined in the FCA Handbook(1) The function of managing or supervising a certification employee, directly or indirectly, is an FCA-specified significant-harm function.(2) A function in (1) is not an FCA certification function for that firm if it is performed by an SMF manager of that firm.
