Role Background

CBRE’s Operational Real Estate Team is a market leading investment, advisory and valuation business working across all operational sectors, including; healthcare, senior housing, hotels, pubs and leisure and self-storage.We understand the fundamental drivers of real estate performance, from the asset level through to the impact of capital structuring on investor returns. In response to a growing pipeline and expansion of our business, we are seeking an Associate Director / Director to help drive our growth of the OPRE Investment Properties business in Scotland.  The role will focus on the Scotland region but there will be opportunity to be involved in projects throughout the UK. This role will be suitable for someone that wants to be part of a growing business line, eager to learn and further develop their career across OPRE and shape the future of our business. 

The role will be focused on undertaking transactions within operational real estate sectors in Scotland. It is preferable for the candidate to have experience in the hotels or leisure market however training will be provided. It is important for the candidate to have prior transactional experience from other market sectors and a willingness to work as part of a collaborative market leading team. 

The team offer a full range of services across OPRE from funding, disposal and acquisition through to advisory services.

Key Responsibilities

- Working as part of a team to manage relationships and grow the business 

- Lead or co-ordinate processes for disposals and acquisitions of land, standing investments and asset sales

- Track and share client intelligence across the business and communicate opportunities for cross-company collaboration 

- Utilise knowledge of market conditions and active buyers to select target buyers for mandates

- Present information about acquisition opportunities to potential buyers in a compelling way; answer questions confidently and knowledgeably 

- Embrace internal systems such as Client IQ (Salesforce) and MS Teams to enhance productivity and information sharing across teams

- Conduct property inspections 

- Delegate effectively, develop junior staff, maximise profitability

- Regular engagement with London and regional colleagues will be required 

- Provide support to junior member of local offices and wider OPRE teams



Person Specification / Requirements

- MRICS qualified or equivalent financial sector experience

- Strong track record of transactional experience in adjacent markets and a commitment to learn new markets and concepts 

- Prior experience of operational real estate market transactions (hotels and leisure sectors of particular interest) would be advantageous but not essential

- Knowledge of financial statements and real estate valuation terms and concepts required

- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly form professional relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels of seniority

- Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate tasks efficiently ensuring deadlines are met

- Positive attitude and good attention to detail

- Advanced IT skills, in particular MS Word, Excel and Outlook

- Ability to logically analyse data

- Understands the importance of using discretion

- Full UK driving license required and willingness to travel when required
