Description

Join a well-respected company as an Assistant Controller through Robert Half. This Assistant Controller role reports to the Controller and manages the accounting staff. As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for identifying issues and delivering solutions. Apply as soon as possible! This permanent employment opportunity is based in the Mississauga, Ontario area.

What you get to do every day

- Other duties as requested

- Support to ensure a competent, trained staff through development, regular assessment, and goal setting

- Help with the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting

- Assemble distinct technical accounting analyses, policies, and procedures

- Specify and generate process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency

- Approve implementation and verify adherence to accounting policies and procedures

- Developed preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits

- Produce relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like key financial metrics, actual spend against budgets/outlook, and the monthly flash report

- Steer the accounting team during the closing process to warrant deadlines are met

- Inspect and make Ad Hoc financial reports

- Administer regular account reconciliation to completion

- Backfill for Controller as appropriate

- Encourage accountability and the meeting of deliverables


Requirements

- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IIA standards

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

- 5+ years of general ledger accounting experience

- Deep knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems

- Previous accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred

- Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment

- CPA certification desired

- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel

- Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions

- Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired
