The Vacancy

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member to join our Trade Planning team as an Assistant Category Planning Manager based on average 2 days a week at a wilko site, then remotely the rest of the week and with at least 1 day a month travel to our Support Centre in Worksop.

Taking huge pride in what you do, your role will involve supporting the promotional and event planning activity for the business. You’ll support the wider trading teams to deliver financial ambition, whilst supporting the administrative requirements of the Category Planning Manager for a wide portfolio of categories. 

As our Assistant Category Planning Manager, you’ll assist the Category Planning Manager to create briefs and plans for a wide portfolio of categories, ensuring the nomination criteria is met. You’ll be the main contact for the operational aspects of promotional and events planning, ensuring relevant departments have the key information required. Along with:

  • You’ll work with Buying teams to ensure all nominations are completed on time and these will deliver the customer ambition, ensuring the deal mechanics and pricing is strong against our key competitors and challenge where this is not the case suggesting areas for improvement.
  • Work collaborative within the Trade Planning function and the wider Trading teams.

For this role we need someone who has at least 2 years’ experience working in a promotion, trading, buying or merchandising role previously; who can build strong working relationships with a range of different stakeholders. With the ability to influence, negotiate and work collaboratively; excellent communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
