The Opportunity

At Abercrombie & Kent, we are going through an exciting period of change and growth in Australasia. We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join the head office in South Melbourne. We are an international company widely regarded as the leading luxury travel company in the world.

The role

You will be responsible for a range of activities such as:

• Reconcile and process intercompany transactions
• Preparation and lodgement of BAS and IRD
• Updating Fixed Asset schedule and associated journals
• Agent commission calculations, reporting for Travel Agencies and QANTAS FF
• Payroll journals and support for payroll process
• Daily banking activities and payments
• Process accounts receivable for Cruise line accounts and generate Cruise reporting

Skills and Experience

• Working towards professional qualification as a CA / CPA, the company will support the completion of this for the right candidate
• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Business would be preferred.
• 1-2 years experience in a finance role
• A Demonstrated knowledge of analysing reports and the ability to interpret financial data
• Knowledge of financial and accounting regulations, industry processes and procedures
• Advanced excel skills is essential
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Prior experience with accounting systems. Knowledge of Sun Systems would be considered an advantage.
