Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Applications Support Specialist to join the Applications Support team within Digital Solutions on a full-time fixed-term basis through to 1 December 2023. The role is responsible for providing application and system support for the University’s learning and teaching systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure high levels of application support and systems management are provided so that the learning and teaching systems perform to user expectations.
  • Provide Level 3 support for learning and teaching systems.
  • Perform system reviews and undertake planning to ensure systems are running optimally, cope with expected growth, and risks are managed.
  • Coordinate change control and adhere to change control processes in relation to teaching and learning systems.
  • Maintain an active relationship and liaise positively with vendors, other service providers, stakeholders, and the wider Digital Solutions team to support, maintain, develop, and address issues associated with learning and teaching systems.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise in the technical and functional aspects of the role. Ensure appropriate system and operational documentation is developed and maintained according to accepted standards.

This is a full-time fixed-term role through to 1 December 2023 and if the appointee is from within the University, a secondment for the period will be favourably considered.

You are an effective communicator and enjoy working as part of a team, while also being an organised self-starter.

Key Requirements:

  • Appropriate relevant tertiary qualification, industry experience or product-based qualification.
  • Proven experience in the support, maintenance, and implementation of enterprise-wide systems.
  • Proven ability to provide proactive 3rd level support for enterprise-wide systems in a secure, managed, and auditable manner.
  • Exposure to, and experience with, web centric technologies.
  • Excellent customer focus and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of change control processes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Able to co-ordinate, liaise and generally work closely with application vendors.
