The Technical Operations Team within UK Information Systems (South) are responsible for the smooth running of the Operational Support Systems within the Sky telecommunications area. These systems ensure a seamless order (provision) and fault (assurance) journey for our millions of Sky residential and business customers who entrust on our services daily. We are looking for a new Application Support Analyst to join our team at Sky. An Application Support Analyst is an IT professional who helps a business solve its application and system issues. They have a deep understanding of how the systems work and perform troubleshooting systems, responding to assistance requests and handling technical issues.

Based in Brick Lane, London we do offer a hybrid working environment being a mix of home working and office based days.

What you’ll do:

As a member of the Technical Operations Team within UK Information Systems (South), you will help drive/facilitate/manage:

  • Operations in the telecommunications space for provisioning and repair services
    • VOIP
    • FTTP
    • Mobile
    • MPF
    • Voice
  • Support during and out of hours
    • Application releases
    • On-Call rota
  • Multi Environmental (Pre production & Production) support tickets/Incidents with autonomy
  • Working seamlessly with other areas within Sky and with our external Third Parties to analyse and repair existing and new workflow interactions across system layers
  • Participation in developing and maintaining a web-based production support application (PHP- Laravel)
    • Simplify, innovate, and improve support processes
    • Provide automated tactical solutions to assist B2B workflows
  • Adapt and grow into hot technologies such as Docker, YAML, Kubernetes, Teamcity, Laravel, Splunk, Prometheus, Cloud computing and Virtualization, GOCD, AppDynamics
  • Contribute towards Technical Operations Team’s ever growing knowledge base on our internal Confluence wiki
  • As an operational support team our working environment is lively and energetic. Social activities are popular within the team

What you’ll bring:

  • Evidence in being highly motivated and demonstrably capable of performing proactively across the full scope of work covered
  • Strong technical competencies required include Oracle PL/SQL, bash, PHP scripting, Containerisation (Apache and Docker), Unix
  • Experience working in a platform support team in a high pressure, fast moving environment
  • Experience in solving and analysing complex problems
  • Production management of micro-applications and microservices, RESTful APIs and network messaging technologies (JMX, JSON, Web)
  • Incident management/ownership and Problem resolution
  • Multidisciplined and flexible
  • High energy and enthusiasm
