We are continuously stretched as our business is challenged due to our customers and clients hoping to be in the forefront of the industry. 25% of our business is in supplying equipment for prototypes or for automation -so only one-off parts/2 parts. This is a growing aspect of the business and we’re looking for someone who is resilient and able to work under pressure.

A graduate who might not have the experience but is quick to learn and adaptable would suit. We’re careful about selecting apprentices as we need someone who can fulfil the production tasks quickly and accurately whilst not sacrificing quality despite the occasional repetitious nature of the work.

Key duties & responsibilities:

       Keep the laboratory area and lab equipment clean and tidy.

Manage the layout and cleanliness of the laboratory.

Ensure chemicals required for lab testing are replenished as needed.

Ensure laboratory record keeping is accurate and maintained.

      Maintain adequate levels of stock of chemicals used in plant normal day to day operations.

Support the smooth operation of the plant by ensuring chemicals, dyes and de-ionised water stocks are maintained at adequate levels and that expiry dates of stock are controlled.

Carry out daily tasks of loading and unloading jigs and operating the plant equipment as    required to maintain production.

Forklift licence will have to be trained for achieved and maintained.

Dangerous goods licence will have to be trained for achieved and maintained.

Maintain general cleanliness of the anodising plant area and equipment.

*Graduate would not be expected to have Forklift or Dangerous Goods licenses. These are subject to attending training courses that would be paid for (including pay for the time on the courses.)

Quality inspection for aesthetics prior to despatch or moving finished product to stock.

Training required so there is sufficient understanding of product requirement.

* This is specific to this worksite so training will be provided on the premises.

      Manage Packing of the parts

Understanding packaging requirements and where to find the correct information relevant to each product and type of product.

(b)There’s a need to prepare the collateral for this.

Coordinate with Plant Manager and Dispatch Co-ordinator for Outwards Goods management.

Arrange for the Packing Slip and other documents required to go with Goods.

Book goods off the work orders and job cards into stock

Requires Ostendo training *(to be provided)

Arrange for the Freight carriers using the WEBNOTES.

For product made for stock or further processing book the product in stock and/or move to the relevant next processing area.

Understand job card process

Communicate with personnel in the different work sites.

Requires Ostendo training. *(to be provided)

Co-operate with the Anodising Plant Manager and QA support person to manage non-conforming goods or returns as required.

Book goods into stock

Raise non-conformances where required.

Requires Ostendo training. *(to be provided)

Skills & knowledge required:

Chemical or Electrical Engineering degree.

Good practical skills.

Understand H&S and adhere to it.

Personal qualities/ attributes required:

Comfortable working with site specific software and happy to learn how to use the ERP software used on site.

Understanding that this is a new role and is somewhat a hybrid one. Comfortable measuring PH of various chemical baths and carrying out titrations in the lab.  Perhaps extending the laboratory work done over time.

Understanding that the role also requires operating the plant, helping with the plant maintenance, loading and unloading baths of product, and performing some commercial jobs like preparing delivery dockets and packing goods properly for safe transport.

Future opportunities:

This role will prepare the successful candidate for managing a fully operational manufacturing plant and getting to the stage of understanding the commercial aspects of being profitable. This involves understanding how that is achieved as well as how to manage the commercial risks involved
