The opportunity

Right now, we have two temporary full-time opportunities available for Air Conditioning Technicians to join our Fleet Maintenance branch within Sydney Trains. These positions will be offered on an initial 12-month basis, with the possibility of extension.

The primary purpose of these roles is to inspect, investigate, diagnose, repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, structural and technological equipment, components and systems focusing on the air conditioning and refrigeration system, on Sydney Trains and/or NSW Trains fleet, to ensure the maintenance integrity of the fleet, timely train availability and effective reliability level in accordance with relevant safety and quality guidelines to ensure components and systems meet defined engineering standards.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform all Technical Maintenance Plan (TMP) inspection requirements on Sydney Trains and/or NSW Trains fleet
• Maintain (within core trade) all mechanical, electrical, structural, technological and air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, components and systems on Sydney Trains and/or NSW Trains fleet
• Investigate, diagnose and repair all problems/faults (within cross trade competency levels) to air conditioning and refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, structural, technological equipment and air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, components and systems on Sydney Trains and/or NSW Trains fleet
• Consistently deliver efficiency and set a platform for increased commerciality.

About you

To be considered for these opportunities you will need a qualification in an electrical trade (or equivalent) and Supervisors Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration competency/qualification that is relevant to a maintenance environment.

Previous experience in maintenance and/or repairs to mechanical and electrical equipment, components and systems in a rolling stock maintenance environment is advantageous, as well as demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop solutions on mechanical and/or electrical equipment.

You’ll have good communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and negotiation skills for working collaboratively across all levels and proven ability to work with minimum supervision and also as part of a team.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Rail Technician Level 1 $1501,50 per week plus super, plus allowances.
