About this role

The purpose of this role is to build domain solution designs and/or enterprise strategies to integrate all aspects of the solution (network, system, process, and people) to ensure it works together. This role provides the technical direction for a domain design area and sets the review processes for this area. This role is responsible for integrating and adapting multiple component designs, in response to business changes, ensuring conformance to the domain and platform architecture.

This specific role is the design authority for the Artificial Intelligence capability in BT. This capability enables the intelligent use of data through cutting-edge algorithms, tools and technologies, bridging the gap between Data Scientists in all parts of BT, the cloud vendors we are working with, and the Enterprise Architecture team. It matters as it underpins BT’s commercial performance, driving up sales, ARPU, cross-selling and customer experience metrics.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Responsible for the platform strategy and/or the domain roadmaps (programme document to describe what will be delivered over the year in releases).

This role will be responsible for stakeholder management of the CFU (Directors, Senior Product Manager), CTIO leads, Project or Portfolio Directors for their domain to ensure that the requirements are met and are fit for purpose. 

Accountable for understanding how the products in the domain are going to evolve and new product launches in this product area.  the detailed design in their team. 

Accountable in their domain design area, for new developments and in life, review processes to check the design. Will ensure that designs meet quality, time and are fit for purpose. 

Work through the resolution within time and resource constraints within this area and has e2e responsibility of that solution. 

The role will be accountable for shaping the architectural framework for their domain area and the technical direction for their domain.

This role could be focused on new products (e.g. web VPN) on cross domain implications, technical expert in this area, new capabilities within the domain. 

Understand domain impacts to ensure the solution fits within the architectural recommendations, working closely with solution architects and enterprise architects.

You'll have the following skills & experience

Story-telling with data: strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences

Stakeholder Management: Develop close relationships with customers, vendors, suppliers and BT employees at a senior level, confidently present information and facilitate negotiates. Managing key stakeholders to enable successful software design and delivery. 

Problem Solving: Ability to problem solve for issues that are broader than the delivered software, e.g.  Integration, interconnection and e2e issues in complex integrated stacks. 

Change Management: Adapt and change team processes and technical practices in a dynamic and challenging environment in order to improve quality and business value.

Software Development Concepts: Understands and experienced with the use of a wide range of programming concepts and is also aware of and has applied a range of algorithms.

Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, business cases)

Commercial & Risk Awareness: Able to understand & evaluate both obvious and subtle commercial risks, especially in relation to a programme. Able to determine the appropriate commercial solutions and responses in highly political and complex situations and ensure that appropriate action is taken.

Deep understanding of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning platforms and technologies.

Experience you would be expected to have

Experience in solution design for Artificial Intelligence across different technology vendors, as well as core elements of data engineering and analytics platforms.

Cloud development and operationalisation of Machine Learning solutions.

A strong statistics / computer science background, with proven industry experience
