What is the Jersey Advocacy Service ‘Your Voice' Service?

The Advocacy service has been running on Jersey since 2017 and gives children and young people up to age 18 a voice in Child Protection, Child in Need and other meetings that make decisions about them. 

Objective of Service

To give children a voice in meetings about them.

What does the Job Role involve?

Your duties will include:

• Meet with children on a 1-1 basis to obtain their views.
• Liaise with social workers and other professionals.
• Liaise with schools to arrange meeting times and spaces.
• Attend Child Protection, Child in Need or other meetings as required to ensure the voice of the child is heard – this will be virtual and face to face as Covid 19 restrictions permit.
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team.
• Recording of information on Barnardo's systems.

 You will have:  (Essential Criteria)

• Experience of delivering advocacy to children and young people.
• Experience of multi-agency working on Jersey.
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team.
• Experience of working with children aged 5-18 years old.
• Ability to travel throughout the Island to meet the requirements of the role.

You will also receive a 25% Market Supplement in addition to salary.
