The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for the processing of all accounts payable functions to provide a quality service to all suppliers and employees within Wabtec Australia. This involves the payment of all suppliers to the company, petty cash, bank cash book and reconciliations, along with appropriate reconciliations, corporate & internal reporting all in compliance with the relevant Company Procedures and legislative requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Process all accounts payable functions, including supplier invoices and statements, reconciling to goods received and purchase requisitions, payments processing, payment of expense claims, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly;
  • Liaise with all departments across the business to resolve any issues impacting on the financial accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the company, and report any such breaches to the Financial Accountants or Finance Director;
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements;
  • The management and processing of petty cash transactions, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly;
  • Carry out the reconciliation of all bank accounts, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly;
  • Process all cash payments on a weekly basis;
  • Ensure cash is reconciled weekly;
  • Assist with all month end activities;
  • Liaise with suppliers, overseas and local, with respect to payment and outstanding claims; and
  • Any other duties directed by your manager.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 2 - 3 years of relevant experience, including general accounting, financial analysis and reports;
  • Substantial knowledge of accounting principles and business practices;
  • Substantial skill in using spreadsheets and other PC packages;
  • Substantial level of written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Sound level of skill in problem solving and decision making;
  • Pro-active, motivated and enthusiastic team player who takes pride in quality and safety;
  • Proven ability of successfully working/ interfacing within inter-departments/ multidisciplinary team;
  • Demonstrated initiative and sound organisational/time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to identify improvements, determine priorities, multi-task and effectively and efficiently meet deadlines; and
  • The ability to maintain an attitude that is proactive, energetic, positive, open, honest, friendly and professional.
