Description

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Accountant for a Non for Profit client who is working remote indefinitely. This is a full time/permanent position located in the Ottawa region.

Responsibilities:

-Post financial information to journals and ledgers

-Perform general accounting tasks, such as G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, and other ad hoc projects

-Handle accounts payable tasks: vendor invoices and disbursement filing, A/P invoice matching & filing

-Utilize a number of sources to create statements and reports

-Resolve discrepancies by examining possible sources of disagreement, recreating likely actions, and identifying the effect on other accounts; generate correction documents as required

-Use knowledge of expenditure codes and accounting codes to accurately code documents

-Process daily invoices/credit, apply cash receipts, and help with collection of past due balances to support Accounts Receivable

-Complete other related duties and assist with special projects as needed

-Review general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, prepare adjusting journal entries

-Perform account analysis & reconciliations

-Maintain general ledger chart of accounts

-Monthly, quarterly & yearly entries & accruals (ie: Prepaids, Fixed Assets etc.)

-Review customer billing before it leaves the office

-Government corporate filings

-Assist with monthly/quarterly reporting to financial institutions

-Accounting for related holding companies and investment companies

-Aid in the year end compilation and analysis of financial information.

-Any other related duties as required

Requirements

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is required

-Familiarity with Quickbooks and Microsoft Suite

-Previous experience working in a not-for-profit environment an asset

-Proven organizational skills and the ability to maintain precise records

-Exceptional time management, communication, and problem-solving skills

-Ability to maintain confidentiality
