Robert Half is searching for a talented Entry Level Accounting Clerk for a Canadian food retailer operating in the province of Ontario. This retailer specialises in selling fresh produce and food products, with an emphasis on farm-to-table. The Clerk will primarily be responsible for matching invoices to purchase orders and/or vouchers, data entry, and assisting in the process of Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R). This fast-paced environment offers you a great workspace/office and great career advancement opportunities. This is a short-term contract/temporary position with an opportunity to become a permanent member of the team in Mississauga.

If you have just graduated from an Accounting program and have an interest in food production or have experience costing out manufactured products and/or has worked in a warehouse environment then this role is for you.

Responsibilities

• Assist Accounts Receivable: help with the collection of past due balance, process daily invoices/credit, and apply cash receipt
• Aid Accounts Payable: vendor invoices and disbursement filing, A/P invoice matching & filing
• Order documents that require knowledge in determining proper classification of accounting codes and expenditure codes
• Companywide accounting: help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projects
• Prepare statements and reports that require utilization of a number of sources
• Transmit financial information to journals and ledgers
• Square up discrepancies by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as required

Requirements

• Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data
• Be able to prioritize workload and perform in a fast-paced and challenging environment
• AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred
• Familiar with Spreadsheet and ERP system
• Invoice Entry experience desired
