This Winnipeg, Manitoba area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work. In this role, it will be critical for you to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. Those with a complex understanding of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets are preferred.

Key responsibilities

- Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations

- Maintain Accounts Payable

- Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

- Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

- Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable

- Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

- Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

- Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision

- Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management

- Regularly maintain and reconcile journal entries

- Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease

- Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

- Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls. Also ensure that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

Requirements

- Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

- Skilled with ERP systems

- 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

- Competent with spreadsheets and databases

- Experience with Annual Budget

- Earlier work involving Review Financial Statements

- Quality experience with accruals

- Skills in Prepare Trial Balance

- Good understanding of Year-end Financial Statements

- Deep understanding of Cash Balance

- Wide ranging experience with Fixed Asset Depreciation

- Comprehension of Annual Budget

- Well-founded grasp of cash reconciliations

- Cash Balance experience

- Previous experience working with Prepare Trial Balance

- Bank Account Reconciliation experience

- General familiarity with Monthly Account Reconciliation

- Proven knowledge of Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation

- Expertise in Disbursement

- Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)

- Practical knowledge of accruals

- Strong analytical capabilities and discernment

- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills

- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

- High attention to detail
