Principal Member Technical Staff (PMTS) Datacenter GPU & Accelerated Compute Integrated Firmware / BIOS Technical Lead
THE ORGANIZATION:
Be part of a growing team within AMD that is building GPUs/Accelerated Processors and CPUs that power the world’s biggest systems used for Machine Learning, HPC and AI. Our customers include some of the biggest names in the industry and are eager to partner with AMD. This team is expanding its scope to cover APUs & CPUs specially designed for MI/HPC customers which is driving the need to expand beyond GPUs. This is a critical technical leadership role related to a new mission around FW/BIOS/SBIOS delivery. We are looking for people with passion, technical experience, and the energy to stretch the boundary. This role will provide you the opportunity to collaborate with other technical experts to bring our products to market and will have latitude to innovate and be part of driving change. The role will reside in the Datacenter Graphics and Accelerated Computing team which is responsible for GPU & CPU Silicon, GPU Boards and GPU/CPU System Validation.
THE ROLE:
Integrated FW / BIOS Technical: responsible for leading Platform FW (BIOS/SBIOS) validation planning and execution of our next generation MI. The work will require interlock with SOC Designers, HW/SW Architects and FW development / QA teams to ensure features are understood, planned and executed. In addition, person will work with Program/Release Management teams to build out delivery schedule. In this capacity, you will engage from Pre-Silicon time as product is defined through Post Silicon validation and delivery to the customer(s). As part of this role, the person will also be involved with key debug and validation teams to investigate/debug complex issues. This is a key cross-functional role to ensure delivery of the FW/BIOS deliverables which incorporate System Settings & a large # of firmware codes that drive the SOC within a platform.
You are a self-starter with experience working with FW & BIOS teams. You have strong understanding of HW/FW/SW and how they work together. You possess the leadership skills to work across teams, converge complex topics and drive solutions. The role will provide you an opportunity to work on cutting edge technology, gain significant executive visibility and make a large impact through your leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Feature planning through collaboration with architects, designers, developers and test teams
Drive execution of BIOS delivery in collaboration with other Program Managers and Key Technical/Functional leaders
Partner with FW developers and ASIC Design team in new feature definition and planning
Work with program managers and release management teams to align feature delivery with BIOS drops
Drive debug on complex issues partnering with relevant people
Drive on time delivery of key features and releases
Collaborate with internal groups on behalf of the group or project
Influences others as a technical leader
Builds and leverages trusting relationships with stakeholders
REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated experience working in a technical leadership role on FW and/or BIOS
Proven technical capability and understanding of SOC, System and FW integration/functionality
Experience debugging complex System/BIOS issues
Core knowledge of BIOS/Firmware interfaces (UEFI, ACPI, SMBIOS) or Windows and Linux kernel as a plus
Experience working with Development, QA/Validation and Release Management teams
Graphics experience a plus
Understanding of HW/FW/SW interaction and system-level design
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Demonstrated ability in “showing initiative†to get things done
EDUCATION:
BS OR MS degree or equivalent accomplishments in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related fields
