AAA Technology Architect - 104942

THE ROLE: 

The Technology PMTS position will play a key execution role within the A+A+A Compute and Graphics BU, responsible for product and solutions technical studies, concept build and demonstration. The role also requires deep understanding of SW and computer architecture, hypothesizing and identifying relevant use cases and technology gaps, while vetting technology tradeoffs and solutions.  This role will include thought leadership and MVP creation across gaming clients, cloud-gaming, software, add-in-boards and mobile while working directly with AMD customers.

• A thought leader, someone who can understand computing HW and SW status quo and engineer optimizations.   
• Someone who can comprehend current PC HW and SW architecture and evolve across multiple vectors, such as power, performance, and quality. 
• A strong theorist, and passionate for relevant innovation. 
• Able to understand complex technical issues across multiple domains and simplify information for partners, customers, and internal management teams. 

• Do-what-it-takes attitude. This team’s mandate is exciting, but new. The candidate must have a sense of urgency and drive, no matter the task. 
• Ability to shift gears from the theoretical to execution. 
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as concepts evolve. 
• Diplomacy a must to get buy-in. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• PC Architectural analysis, with subsequent accountability for concept and prototype development ultimately leading to roadmap execution.  
• Work closely with AMD Engineering and Architecture teams to maximize product performance, innovation, and be able to convince others of idea merits. 
• Hands on ability to prove concepts, manage concept development, and at times build concepts 

• Herding ideas to execution stages and providing expert insights as questions arise. 
• Some application and feature simulation work. 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• Minimum of 10 years of prior experience in SW engineering, PC architecture, or semiconductor development. 

• Previous leadership in algorithm or computer architecture optimizations 
• Minimum of 10 years total industry experience. 
• Experience working with PC SW architecture, multimedia and/or graphics either discrete GPUs or integrated GPUs required. 
• Strong understanding of Windows SW architecture. 
• Good understanding of PC hardware. 

• Experience developing products and solutions for global consumer or computer markets. 
• Proficient in SW development, coding, and paving the way for engineering teams to follow productizing your ideas. 
• Demonstrated strong communications skills reducing complex technical concepts into easy to digest and succinct language. 
• Strong technical specification writing skills. 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• PhD, MSEE or MSCS or equivalent architecture or algorithm development experience required.
