About the team
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.
The opportunity
Right now, we have a Permanent Full-Time opportunity available for a Works Assistant in our Broken Hill, NSW depot. As a Works Assistant Grade 3 you will perform the function of a Quality Assurance Representative (Project Quality Representative). As a Works Assistant you will also support works delivery and may be required to carry out the duties of a Road Worker Grade 3.
You’ll undertake a range of duties, including:
Working under limited supervision either in a team environment or working independently, perform a wide range of advanced non-trades functions which have been acquired through experience or formal training to specified standards and tolerances.
Responsible for the completion of a function or activity to quality specification.
Ability to deal with routine problems that arise during the course of work without support through the application of acquired knowledge and reference to standard guidelines and manuals. Complex problems are identified and resolved with the assistance of others. Determine the most appropriate means of performing given activities from a wide range of established methods.
Actively participate in team meetings and processes and pro-actively offer suggestions for improvement.
Apply interpersonal skills to assist members of the public and other team members to ensure that team processes proceed and that minor conflicts within the team are resolved. Facilitate some team processes within the work unit, provide guidance and on the job training to other team members.
Understand and demonstrate responsibility for determining the legal framework of WHS in the workplace, apply knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures in the workplace; and maintaining knowledge of WHS legislation, industry and organisational requirements.

About you
You're confident, proactive and you have the ability to understand and apply quality assurance and specifications to units of work and work teams. You are passionate about quality assurance, taking attention to detail, and understand the importance it has to the final product. Technology is no issue as you are confident operating and adapting to various systems.
A sound understanding of road systems and networks, as well as proven experience working independently and collaboratively with others will be advantageous. Key to your success in this role is your ability to think outside the box and positively influence others to achieve quality outcomes.
Whilst not essential, Strong technical understanding of TfNSW quality specifications will be highly regarded.
Salary and Benefits
The wage for this position is Works Assistant Grade 3 $1342.60 per week plus superannuation.
