About You

Are you passionate about working with young students and families, identifying health and wellbeing challenges and facilitate the coordination of appropriate early intervention, assessments and referral to services?

The Wellbeing and Health In-reach (WHIN) team are seeking to appoint 4 x WHIN Coordinators (CNS2) to join their team. This is a new and exciting, challenging and rewarding position within SWSLHD until 30/06/2024. in their nominated schools within the District. We are looking for experienced Registered Nurses with post graduate qualifications in relevant fields to join this team - you will be seeking a challenging rewarding role that will allow you to grow and develop your skills as well as your reach in the community.

You will be an experienced outstanding nurse and have strong leadership skills. You will be willing to work with local schools to deliver the WHIN program. An ability to work autonomously and in an interagency context is imperative for the role. You will have a thorough understanding and ability for identifying the health and wellbeing needs as well as referral services for school aged children and young people.

What you'll be doing

The WHIN is responsible for facilitating identification of health, wellbeing and social needs and the coordination of appropriate early intervention, assessments, and referral to services for school-aged children and young people attending designated primary and secondary schools.

4 positions available in the following areas – Bankstown, Campbelltown, Fairfield and Liverpool.

How to Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Current Registered Nurse Division 1 National Registration (AHPRA) with a minimum of 3 years post registration clinical experience working with children and young people, a post registration qualification related to the specialty area of child and family health, or paediatrics, or adolescent / youth health nursing practice or other related area.

Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with children and young people, including marginalised and at-risk groups, and health promotion, prevention and early intervention approaches and evidence based practice.

Demonstrated capacity to engage with families to address various health and mental health problems for children and young people and effectively liaise with health and social services involved in their care.

Demonstrated ability to work within an interagency context, with an emphasis on relationship building, service delivery, quality of care and team cohesion, and an ability to identify and improve opportunities to enhance integration of care for children, young people and families.

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including advanced verbal and written skills; an ability to negotiate and problem solve; and the capacity to collaborate with and influence health and other professionals.

Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilise electronic communication and medical record systems across a variety of applications, including eHealth technologies.

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the provision and development of clinical practice by utilisation of evidence based research with a demonstrated understanding of current NSW Ministry of Health Policies and National and State Standards in relation to children and young people.

Current NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) and willingness to use for work purposes.
