Our Regulatory Delivery team has bases in Hamilton, Palmerston North, Christchurch and Dunedin. Over the past year we have been creating the framework for and establishing relationships with the vastly broad and diverse range of water suppliers across Aotearoa. We are now at a stage in our journey to welcome additional support into our team in the form of a Regulatory Delivery Advisor and a Senior Regulatory Delivery Advisor.

As part of the Regulatory Delivery team, you will be working hands-on to deliver the regulatory functions and duties of Taumata Arowai. This will include:

• Working with suppliers to manage and resolve any non-compliance with drinking water standards or guidance.
• Working with stakeholders to share information and build knowledge surrounding safe drinking water practices.
• Developing positive and proactive working relationships with suppliers.
• Monitoring and undertaking audits and investigations of drinking water suppliers.

In addition, the Senior Regulatory Delivery Advisor will:

• Act as a subject matter expert in drinking water regulation.
• Support and lead drinking water emergency responses.
• Create and maintain high quality compliance and enforcement records.

We are looking for applicants who:

• Have a demonstrated commitment to the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi and can work towards building their own capability in te Ao Māori.
• Possess sound judgement and analytical skills, with particular emphasis on application in a regulatory environment.
• Are confident building stakeholder relationships and have the ability to remain focused and calm under pressure.
• Are comfortable engaging with stakeholders from a range of backgrounds and ethnicities, to provide education and information at the frontline.
• Have experience working within a regulatory, compliance or audit environment.
• Hold a full clean Driver's License.

In addition, for the Senior Regulatory Advisor position, you will:

• Have a deep understanding of the New Zealand drinking water system, particularly as a key function of this role will be reviewing drinking water safety plans, supporting our stakeholders with emerging issues relating to drinking water and non-compliance.
• Have a background in either operational water supply or drinking water regulation to enable a high technical understanding.
• Have at least 5+ years' relevant and transferrable work experience.
• Have been involved in audits either completing them or preparing for them.
