The Role
We are currently on the lookout for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Heartland Veterinary services. This role is to provide a high quality small animal first opinion service in a mixed practice. The duties will include consulting with clients, carrying out in house investigations, medical treatments and surgery. It will be a 5 day week although colleagues who want to work part time or on a flexible basis will be considered. The working hours will be 0830 until 1730 with an hour lunch break. It is not intended that there will be any out of hours or weekend work associated with this role. Salary from £36,000 depending on experience.
About Us
We are a two centre practice and although this post is based at our Aberfeldy surgery there may be times when you would be required to work in Pitlochry. We are currently in the process of planning for an extension of the Aberfeldy Surgery to add a prep room and operating theatre. In Aberfeldy there is a new small animal ultrasound machine,
DR digital x-ray machine and in house laboratory equipment. There is also a veterinary dermatologist locally who we use from time to time to see cases in house.
We are located in Highland Perthshire with amazing scenery, many outdoor activities and the opportunity for a great quality of life. We currently have 6 veterinary surgeons who are all working as mixed vets and take part in the on-call rota. We have 2 Veterinary Nurses - one based at each surgery. There are 4 support staff at Aberfeldy, and 3 at Pitlochry.
We don't have any certificate holders but are very keen to encourage anyone who has special interests. The practice is very much part of the community and supports many local events and shows
Applicant Requirements
The candidate should be able to work independently for all routine small animal work and have experience and confidence in working up cases and performing common surgical procedures.
Benefits - Subject to Pro Rata
As a BAME and LGBTQ+ inclusive employer, we are keen to hear from candidates from all minority and diverse groups. As a Disability Confident Employer, we are keen to hear from candidates with disabilities and long-term health conditions and would be happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments needed during the recruitment process.
