Job Description

Excellent opportunity to join one of the leading veterinary hospitals in Edinburgh. 4 day week, no OOH and 1 in 6 weekends!

Edinburgh is one of the most desirable places to live in the UK with it's charming Georgian architecture, great arts and culture scene, historical attractions but is also surrounded by breathtaking countryside.

The three-site practice has been looking after the pets of Edinburgh and surrounding areas for over 50 years. The main site (where this role would be based aside from rare branch cover) is an accredited Veterinary Hospital and as such has first class clinical standards and expectations for client and patient care.

There are over 15 vets across all three sites with multiple certificate holders, led by two lovely Clinical Directors focused on driving the practice forward and continually improving the working environment for staff.

There is plenty of support and knowledge sharing within the team so a great environment for development and learning.

Equipment-wise, you can expect all the usual veterinary toys at an accredited hospital including digital and dental x-ray, doppler cardiac ultrasound with in house and portable units, laparoscopic equipment and a comprehensive in house laboratory.

Key Duties

  • A full time role would be for 4 days a week along with a weekend rota of 1 in 6 which also gives you a full day off before and after working a weekend which greatly contributes to your work life balance.
  • Inpatients are kept on site, however these are looked after by the night time so there is no OOH or on call work.
  • There is flexibility within the role to accommodate your clinical interests.

Package and Benefits

In return you will receive an excellent package including:

  • Highly competitive salary up to £50,000 DOE
  • £1,750 CPD allowance + 5 days study leave
  • Certificates supported and encouraged
  • Pension scheme
  • Health related discounts and vouchers
  • Staff discount scheme
  • Professional memberships paid
  • Cycle to work scheme

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

  • Ideally you will be confident with routine consultations, surgery and medical work however support is always on hand to help you develop.
  • There is flexibility within the role to suit your clinical interests.
