Exciting opportunity for a Small Animal Vet looking to progress their career alongside an experienced and supportive team within an independently owned hospital.

Prospect Health are proud to be working with one of the leading independent tier 3 hospitals in the area, who due to continued growth and success are looking for an additional Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly, supportive, and experienced 7-Vet team. If you have been wanting to do a certificate and specialise your skill set, but don't see the caseloads you need in your current job, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. Founded over 20 years ago by its current partners, the practice has grown steadily over the years and last year moved into to a much bigger premises to be able to offer a much wider range of services. Almost all cases are kept in-house thanks to the vast and varied experience of the existing Vet team, which includes a partner with over 20 years general practice experience, two advanced practitioners (surgery & medicine) and one vet about to complete their certificate in small animal surgery.

The practice itself is a big spacious premises with five consult rooms and two large operating theatres kitted out with all the equipment you could need, including digital X-ray, endoscope, ultrasound, in-house lab, laparoscopic and orthopaedic surgical equipment as well as a visiting CT scanner. The practice sees an active and varied caseload, which when paired with the support and encouragement for personal development, makes this an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to do a certificate in their chosen area.

The ideal person for this role will be someone passionate about their work and dedicated to providing the best outcome to their patients. Ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years small animal experience (though less will be considered) and enjoy the excitement and variety of emergency work. Most importantly you will be someone that enjoys working with others and forming good relationships with colleagues and clients alike. Key Duties

  • Well established and independent first opinion hospital in Staffordshire
  • Forward-thinking practice with varied caseload
  • Equipment and experienced team allow almost everything to be kept in house including complex orthopaedic and spinal surgery
  • 7-Vet team with a range of experience and interested ranging from new graduates to advanced practitioners
  • 10+ RVNs/SVNs (the practice is a nurse training centre)
  • Dedicated practice manager and reception team
  • Excellent facilities including digital X-ray, endoscope, ultrasound, in-house lab, laparoscopic and orthopaedic surgical equipment as well as a visiting CT scanner
  • 4-day week (rolling 5-week rota with 2 long weekends scheduled for all Vets)
  • 1-in-5 OOH rota - for clients only (usually relatively quiet)

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

  • You must have the right to work in the UK
  • You must be registered with the RCVS to practice in the UK
  • Ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in Small Animal Veterinary work, although less will be considered
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and building good relationships with clients while striving to provide the best outcome for your patients
