In UX&D you’ll get to shape experiences that reach millions of people every day and the tools, systems and strategies behind the scenes that help shape them. As a UX Architect you’ll enjoy thinking at this systems level, connecting ideas, people and technologies to increase the connections, efficiency, resilience and coherence within a system or service.
As a User Experience Architect, you’ll work alongside UX Designers, Content Designers and Design Researchers. You’ll be part of multidisciplinary teams – bringing a human-centred design perspective to the projects you work on. You’ll also be joining our information architecture specialists within UX&D who are committed to making BBC content, experiences and tools more meaningful and connected. We don’t just care about the information – our priority is always the user and their experience.
Why you’ll want to join this team
The BBC offers a unique challenge to systems thinkers – and particularly people who are passionate about information architecture. Our individual products are some of the best in class. iPlayer, Sounds, BBC News and Sport compete with the biggest names in the market. But they must also work as a portfolio of products. UX Architects help to identify and form the connections in experiences and backstage systems to make this possible.
We’re looking for people to join the team who love this type of thinking and challenge. You’ll be comfortable operating at different levels of abstraction – thinking about what makes things the same, and where we might need to support exceptions. You can form generalised rules and illustrate these with easy to understand examples. You’ve got multiple ways of communicating the complex – whether it’s a domain diagram, flow chart, wireframes, prototype or just great story-telling. You’re effective because you patiently pull together the strands of complex challenges and then weave them together, with others, to deliver delightful, efficient solutions.
As a member of BBC UX&D, you’ll join over 100 user experience professionals across the UK serving a global audience.
You bring your own unique range of skills and you respect and value the skills and perspectives of others.
You work hard to understand complexity and take delight in sharing your understanding with others.
You embrace change and new ways of learning and improving.
You make sound judgements and are comfortable working through ambiguity.
You keep track of time, plan your own work, and keep people informed.
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!
