Job Description

We are a busy interior fit-out company that requires a new team member with strong industry skills to hit the ground running.

We are after a serious candidate that wishes to progress in the commercial building industry and potentially work towards their formal qualification. 

Candidate must:

  • Hold a full and clean manual drivers licence (for company vehicle use/insurance) HT not required as small truck.
  • Must pass police check (client security).
  • Pass pre-employment drug test (OSH & ACC).
  • Start work at 7am (firm).
  • Good comprehension of oral and written instructions.
  • Happy disposition in stressful situations.
  • A can-do attitude.
  • To be punctual, respectful, loyal and have a sense of hummer.

A day’s work for a driver/labourers may include but is not limited to:

  • Preparing the worksite for professional tradespeople.
  • Laying out tools and materials.
  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
  • Keeping the work area in accordance with site safe practices.
  • Tidying at the end of the day.
  • Help set out for construction.
  • Screwing off walls.
  • Hanging Gib.
  • Help skilled workers in all areas of demolition or construction. 

Tools and equipment:

The following tools are considered a minimum requirement that any driver/labourer will need to accumulated:

hammer, pliers w/ side-cutters, utility knife, tape measure, locking pliers, crescent wrench,screwdriver, margin trowel, carpenter's pencil or soapstone, tool belt and one pouch (bag).

Most safety equipment that is consumed or work specific, for example hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel capped boots. 

High-visibility clothing, concrete boots, respirator/dust mask and toe guards, and company uniform are provided by the employer as part of construction site safety.

Advantageous Qualities:

  • Manual dexterity. driver/labourers use many tools and need hand-eye coordination to avoid injury. Striking the head of a nail, for example, is crucial to not damaging wood.
  • Physical stamina. Trainee/Labourers need physical endurance. They often lift heavy tools and materials while standing, climbing, or bending for long periods.
  • Physical strength. Many of the tools and materials that Trainee/Labourers use are heavy. For example, plywood sheets can weigh 20 to 40kgs.
  • Problem-solving skills.

Because all construction jobs vary, drivers/labourers must think ahead and adjust project plans accordingly.
