Our Distribution team at Thatcham is looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Team Leader to join them. You will be part of a team of 3 team Leaders who support the Transport Management team by managing day to day operations of the Trunking department, ensuring the efficient and smooth onward flow of goods through the supply chain providing the level of service excellence that Harrods is renowned for.

As a Transport Team Leader you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Dispatch bank, ensuring that drivers have completed their walk around checks and the vehicle is safely loaded. You will also undertake driving assessments and give appropriate support and relevant coaching to all drivers to improve team performance. You’ll maintain high levels of Health and Safety awareness, reporting any accidents and near misses appropriately. You’ll ensure all drivers are debriefed on their return to base, and that their vehicles are checked for damage. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring all drivers assist with the loading and unloading of their vehicles.

Please note the successful candidate must hold a category C+E on their driving licence.

About you

You will have experience with managing direct reports and working in a fast paced environment. You’ll be a good communicator ensuring that drivers adhere to the operating procedures of the department. You’ll have a good attention to detail which will be evident through organisation of the department including all vehicles are loaded, safely and securely and are ready for departure. You’ll hold a valid Driver C.P.C. Certificate along with Class CE category Licence.

You’ll have a strong customer service focus as you will monitor telematics reports to check arrival times and locations and ensure the customer is kept updated with regards to any delays. You’ll have excellent written skills as you will also investigate and respond to email queries from both internal and external customers. It would be advantageous to have a knowledge about SAP and Excel that will enable you to update management reports and efficiently plan all vehicles and drivers.
