This is an exciting opportunity to join as a Transformation Programme Manager working on a truly transformational programme which will be a core part of Sainsbury’s strategy with a huge amount of exposure and the opportunity to develop in a fast paced exciting and rapidly changing industry.
In this role you will programme manager the significant multi-year Retail and Digital Transformation programme, as a key leader within the Transformation team. The role will include leading and running the programme governance, bringing insight to delivery, risks and decisions required, working with senior stakeholders across the business to facilitate progress. You will also own, refine and champion a new change delivery framework across this critical programme which is targeted to deliver Customer first solutions that transform the cost base of our operations.
To be successful you will have the skills to adapt to problems and new situations quickly, creating solutions which are simple, future proof and consider both internal and external thinking.
As a Transformation Programme Manager you will:
- Establish & own the single view of the Retail Transformation programme plan, outcomes, decisions required, risks and dependencies
- Lead and inspire adoption of a consistent approach to change management, ensuring all activity wherever possible is in line with the principles of the programme and following the ‘playbook’ delivery approach to ensure consistency of change delivery
- Ensure the change delivered is aligned, connected and is right for the customers
- Lead, coach and develop a small, dedicated Transformation programme team, and broader programme community
- Providing thought leadership, strategic planning and a fresh approach you are expected to challenge current thinking, working both with the Direct, Head of Transformation and the senior leadership team along with senior leaders across the business
- Represent the programme alongside or to cover the Head of Transformation at senior governance forums, to achieve the decisions and decisions and support required to make the programme successful
- Manage and prepare governance materials to facilitate progress including Steering Groups as well as the inputs and decisions required from the programme of other governance forums in the business, ensuring the best use of time, bringing insight to drive decision making and progress at pace
- Own the communication plan on change and vision of the overall Retail Transformation programme to engage & inspire our Retail and central teams on the programme
- Facilitate prioritisation across the programme to address constraints and ensure the best return from resources and investment
What you need to know and show:
- Well versed in different change and project methodologies (Prince II, Lean, Agile) with supporting qualification
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of budget management (in excess of several million)
- Successful experience of working on implementation of major IT and Change projects and programmes
- Highly polished and professional with strong leadership ability
- Highly literate, able to tailor messages to multiple audiences
- Experience of writing corporate strategy, business and corporate plans
- Experience of leading high performing teams
- Strong negotiation / influencing skills
- Significant gravitas and leadership
- Engaging and inspiring communication skills, able to influence at all levels including senior directors
- High degree of self-awareness, open to challenge
- Experience of writing business cases and obtaining backing for project or programme initiatives equating to several millions of pounds
- How to manage and prioritise business projects using very strong commercial & risk awareness
- Have experience with and be able to demonstrate strong skills of managing and using data, insight and external innovation to manage and balance complex project through to solution
