We are looking for a Theatre Manager to join us on a fixed term contract until August 2022, to assist the Head of Audience Services & Operations in the operationally and financially efficient and safe general management of public activities across the RSC. You will inspire, and lead on the development of a motivated Front of House team, ensuring that our audiences and visitors are consistently placed at the heart of all activity and enabling a consistent world class visitor experience for all. The Theatre Manager will oversee the reopening of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Autumn 2021 and contribute to the early stages of the RSC's recovery phase as we welcome back audiences to our buildings.
As the Theatre Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Audience Services & Operations, and have responsibility for a team of direct reports; House Managers, Assistant House Manager, Casual Duty Managers and the Front of House Administrator. The ideal candidate will have significant experience at a similar level in an arts or entertainment venue together with effective leadership qualities and successful experience of developing management teams. We are looking for someone who brings infectious and inspirational enthusiasm, coupled with a positive and adaptable attitude and the ability to work under frequently changing conditions. It is essential that you are a customer focused individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract position based in Stratford-upon-Avon. You will be working 40 hours per week, our core operational hours are around performances, which are in the evenings and at weekends, you will be leading the team working predominantly at these times. This is a front-facing role working directly with the public, therefore a positive and proactive approach to greeting and assisting the public is required, as is the confidence to deal with a variety of scenarios and potentially difficult situations. You will be required to be alert at all times and provide an agile response in an emergency.
