Your responsibilities in this role
- Manage payroll information requests and questions
- Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines
- Calculate employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments and employee federal and state income and social security taxes to determine payroll liabilities
- Report needed changes after maintaining payroll operations according to established policies and procedures
- Managing payroll information by keeping proper records for collecting, calculating, and entering data
- Retrieve and assess information in order to resolve payroll discrepancies
- Preparing reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
- Secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence
- Reviewing and verifying source documents
- Execute relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports to circulate amongst department heads
- Manage issues related to employee deductions and other liabilities, including reconciling
- Perform other tasks as necessary
- Maintain all updates of payroll records by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
- Supporting all internal and external audits related to payroll
- Payroll systems for 100-500 employees experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Payroll Functions
- Adeptness in union payroll
- Knowledge of Full Cycle Payroll
- Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian Payroll
- Payroll experience
- bi-Monthly Payroll experience
- General familiarity with Process Payroll
- Knowledgeable of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
- Dependability in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills in particular
- Mastery of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
- Prior experience using accounting software
- Mastery of internal controls
- Certified Payroll Professional will be given preference
- 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll
- Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Prior experience working with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.
