Our Cookery School in King’s Cross, London has a fantastic opportunity for a Chef Tutor to join their friendly and welcoming team on a 12 month fixed term contract
What’s the role about?
This role is all about hosting and interacting with customers, sharing your love of food, kitchen skills and experience on a daily basis.
Working as part of a varied and creative team you will be responsible for the daily teaching of our Waitrose Cookery School courses.. You will be crucial in supporting the development of a seasonal Cookery School programme, which includes the creation of recipe content and opportunities to participate in filming for the Waitrose YouTube and Instagram channels.
This is the ideal role for someone who has a passion for food, experience and knowledge of a wide range of cuisines and fantastic communication skills.
Please note: Assessments for this role will be taking place in early January at our Kings Cross Cookery School
What will you be doing as a Chef Tutor?
Delivering engaging and interactive cookery demonstrations, and supporting customers in replicating each dish
Express yourself through sharing your love of food with customers using the best Waitrose ingredients
Delivering excellent customer service in a fast paced environment
Develop your depth of knowledge through teaching a wide variety of cuisines
Benefit from personal development time to research and practise where needed
Lead or support on internal and external events - to include teaching, food service offerings and creation of menus and courses
Awareness of financial performance and supporting to control costs and work to budget
Responsible for complete setup of customer courses to include food ordering and shopping, food preparation and customer trays, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness
Supporting and collaborating with various stakeholders to develop seasonal Cookery School programme including development and creation of recipe content and course structure

What you'll have:
Proven restaurant, hotel or other commercial kitchen experience (ideally 3 years)
Good understanding of kitchen operation
Proven experience and knowledge of a wide range of cuisines, sweet and savoury baking and cooking techniques
