Are you interested in being part of a highly motivated site acquisition team, who executes and manages multi-million dollar contracts in multiple regions; where you would be a key stakeholder in validating and aligning the technical requirements of Microsoft to ensure 99.9999% uptime for our customers?

 

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation team is looking for a strong candidate to manage and support all technical requirements within our multi-billion dollar portfolio of leased data centres with accountability for working with our subject matter experts to confirm the data centre is fit for purpose and aligns with Microsoft’s best in class requirements. In addition, this role will drive our technical review process for existing contracts as they reach maturity, with the intent of solving any legacy issues such as single points of failure.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated technical program manager with experience delivering and continuously improving our leased portfolio, ensuring we are proactively mitigating risks and driving performance improvements, always considering how we can do better for our Customer.

 

Role Overview

 

The Technical Portfolio Manager is responsible for supporting the Site Acquisition Team in overseeing the technical criteria of the regional lease portfolio, both within existing sites where we are located, as well as new sites we are proposing to expand into.

 

Lessor Management

Become a subject matter expert (SME) in lessors technical designs; clearly understand where there are risks and drive the lessor to mitigate any highlighted areas

Oversight of lessor’s delivery – creating a proactive approach to identify any potential issues

Create mechanisms to review lessors performance (such as site observation checklists, pre- project completion checklists)

Work with the program management team to support the existing technical review process (statement of qualification (SOQ))

Complete quality checks on lessor information, prior to SME review to speed up completion of technical reviews

 

Portfolio

Work closely with the Regional Asset Management function on all renewal activity in EMEA

Develop and implement a formal technical review process for all upcoming renewal sites and actively engage with the subject matter exerts to identify single points of failure or risks that require mitigation during the renewal process

Work closely with the operations team to identify any key areas of concern that require resolution

Maintain an ongoing relationship with the key stakeholders in MSFT to ensure we are proactively improving the leased data centres

Prepare reports to show any high risks, and align closely with our site acquisition team to leverage any new business or expansion

 

Process Improvement

Proactively improve technical due diligence processes as properties are delivered into the EMEA portfolio

Drive efficiency by supporting streamlining efforts to improve our Site Acquisition Runbook and Lease Cycle execution workflow

Adherence to lease project governance – manage communication with project stakeholders, report project status, and manage escalations of project risks (if any)

 

Team development

Work closely with the team to review and streamline processes and procedures – optimizing our delivery

Develop strong relationships with subject matter experts to created a trusted environment, to influence stronger collaboration

Influence numerous key stakeholders, bringing people on the journey to ensure tight deadlines are being met for delivery of data centre space

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

experience and a track record in a technical environment, support critical environments

 

Bachelor’s in Engineering field or related field or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience

 

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Relevant experience in project managing complex technical environments, with a keen eye to detail and continuous drive for improvement

Technical qualification preferred, or engineering discipline

be a self-starter, proven problem solver and strong influencer through effective communication

passionate about technology and resilience in our data centres

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
