Radio 4 is unique in the breadth and quality of its informative, educational and entertaining programming.  Every day, on air and online, Radio 4 has more original content than any other broadcaster in the world. Its authoritative news and current affairs journalism is complemented by programmes exploring every aspect of life, offered through regular strands, one-off commissions, special seasons and digital-first or digital-only content. 

Role Responsibility

Provide advice, support and information to Radio 4 Announcers across two continuity studios and Station Sound Producers.  To be the key system administrator for Dira, the liaison point for suppliers needing access to Media Shuttle, the network’s representative at the Audio, Edit and Playout group for Radio.  To provide advice on audio quality to all our suppliers, train new members of the team in studio and be across technical checks for Radio 4 Extra automation.

The Ideal Candidate

The Ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • An excellent and detailed understanding of the programme making process
  • Ability to collaborate, influence and communicate effectively with all areas inside and outside of the BBC
  • Good leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritise and plan activities taking into account all the relevant issues and factors such as deadlines, staffing and resource requirements and adjust to new priorities as and when they arise
