We are currently recruiting for a Technical Accounting Manager role to join our Finance department.
The Technical Advisory and Policy team owns and advises on group accounting policy and its application globally. The team also advises on regulatory reporting policy.
The primary purpose of the role will be to support the Technical Accounting Corporate Lead to deliver best in class technical accounting advisory support in line with corporate centre activity of a FTSE 100 reporting entity, in particular focusing on a number of technical areas including but not limited to mergers, acquisitions and disposals, share based payments, pensions accounting, financial instruments and provisions.
This role also involves supporting on technical advisory aspects of preparing the Group financial statements and external results publications.
Day to day responsibilities include:
Providing accounting advisory support on a range of queries, transactions and projects typical for a FTSE 100 Financial Services
Preparation of certain notes in the Group IFRS financial statements, primarily those with a significant degree of complexity and accounting judgement
Preparation of technical papers to the Group Financial Reporting Committee supporting quarterly reporting cycles and ad hoc corporate technical accounting issues
Contributing to updates to Group IFRS accounting policy and the Group Reporting Manual
Contributing to the technical accounting advisory support to the Group M&A team on live projects, producing accounting impacts analysis as inputs to Board approval papers and verification of financial impacts in RNS releases
We are looking for the following skills and experience:
Strong understanding and application of IFRS and ability to exercise sound and balanced judgement
Recognised accounting qualification
Understanding of wider corporate reporting (for example reporting of performance metrics through alternative reporting measures)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to work effectively both independently with appropriate support and as part of a delivery team
Ability to work through complex problems and able to deal with ambiguity, drawing on the knowledge and experience of a diverse set of SMEs across finance
Strong inter-personal and stakeholder management skills
