Salary band: Band C: $ 109,626 to $ 148,318 depending on capabilities, skills and experience

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

  • Work with the Intelligence Leadership Team to ensure a co-ordinated approach to intelligence capability and practice across MPI
  • Ensure the suite of Intelligence and Targeting Team (ITT) intelligence and analytical products are clearly understood, regularly measured, and reviewed.
  • Manage a wide range of responsibilities in ITT, including intelligence analysis, vessel target evaluation and target development.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders in the border sector.
  • Participate and collaborate with agencies based at the Integrated Targeting and Operations Centre.
  • Enable key decision makers within MPI to gain insights in relevant border sector priorities

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About the Team

The Intelligence and Targeting Team is responsible for the development and dissemination of tactical and operational intelligence products to inform decision makers from frontline staff to senior management. To achieve this you will work closely with all departments within MPI and partner agencies. This role also manages the Vessel Target Evaluation Team and Target Developers responsible for alerts in the national targeting system.

Mōu - About You

  • Our ideal candidate is an Intelligence professional with a minimum of five years' experience in the field.
  • Strong preference is given to candidates with knowledge of the biosecurity or regulatory environment
  • Must have a tertiary qualification in relevant disciplines
  • Be eligible for, or preferably have top-secret security clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for at least the last ten (10) years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last ten (10) years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
