Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role

Reporting to the Manager - Issues and Operations, your focus is to lead the tenancy tribunal team which is part of the groupresponsible for oversight of national issues management, resolution, information requests and performance reporting across all business areas at Kāinga Ora.

You will lead, coach, support and mentor your team which provides all tribunal management services, as well as a number of other key functions such as:

  • Identifying opportunities to resolve disputes and complaints prior to mediation/tribunal
  • Advising on which proposed Kāinga Ora applications should proceed to Tribunal
  • Training and upskilling the business on tenancy law and internal policies and processes

Your role will provide significant support in overall management of our work programme enhanced to deliver better and successful outcomes for our customers.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

You are a seasoned people leader who demonstrate:

  • Ability to lead specialist team, ideally in Mediation/Tenancy Tribunal field, with knowledge of issues, priorities and key concerns of a team responsible for preparing cases and attending Tribunal hearings.
  • Proven experience in leading, motivating and coaching a high performing geographically spread team, including managing staff development and performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent risk assessment skills
