THE ROLE:
An exciting part time opportunity has become available for an experienced, engaging and 'hands on' Team Leader for our day respite service. Located in Ashburton, Elsie Salter House (ESH) provides an inclusive specialist day program in a welcoming, homelike environment for up to 12 clients.
Reporting to the Coordinator Facility Based Programs and working closely with a dedicated team of Program Assistants and Volunteers, this role will see you ensuring day respite services operate within our ‘Engaged’ Service Model with effective delivery of respite services, group activities, appropriate care, support, social wellbeing and engagement.
This part time role is for 60 hours per fortnight with shifts to be confirmed with successful applicant. Immediate start is available. Come join the Samarinda family!
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Oversee the day to day operations of Elsie Salter House.
- Plan and facilitate group activities that are flexible and innovative and ensure the delivery of group activities and meals that maximise participation and enhance well-being and independence.
- Work collaboratively with clients living in the community from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds in accordance with Samarinda’s values and professional standards of behaviour.
- Maintain client information records.
- Provide support and guidance to staff and volunteers.
ABOUT YOU — The Essentials:
- Relevant experience in similar role/environment
- Cert IV Leisure and Health (or equivalent)
- First Aid Certificate
- Food Handling Certificate
- Experience facilitating group activities for people living with dementia and with other behaviour needs
- Knowledge and experience supporting people in day respite services
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional customer service skills with ability to work with a broad range of clients
- Engaging personality and be highly motivated
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to supervise others
- Ability to drive a 12 seater bus
- Desire to make a real difference and work within the values of Samarinda
