Job Description

We are looking to expand our farm animal pathology team with a new post providing teaching in farm animal pathology and diagnostics and contributing to our farm animal disease surveillance service (partner post mortem provider for APHA). The successful candidate will join a team of seven anatomic pathologists and five anatomic pathology residents.

The RVC pathology group is one of the largest academic pathology faculties in Europe and has an international reputation in specialist diagnostics, teaching and research, with strengths including infectious diseases, farm animal pathology and forensic pathology.

You should hold a degree in veterinary medicine recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and ideally have clinical experience in farm animal practice.

Experience in farm animal pathology and diagnostics would be an advantage but is not essential as we can offer training to the right candidate. A strong interest in teaching is required and opportunities to formalize this with a postgraduate teaching qualification will be offered. The post is appointed within academic pay scales, commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a London Allowance and employer's contributions to pension scheme.

For further details or an informal discussion please contact Dr Sonja Jeckel, Lecturer in Farm Animal Pathology (sjeckel@rvc.ac.uk) or Prof Simon Priestnall, Head of Pathology (spriestnall@rvc.ac.uk).

The RVC values diversity and is committed to the equality of opportunity. Balancing both the needs of the business with those of our staff, we will consider applications to work on a flexible basis where possible.
