The team traditionally holds lower case load than those seen at site, however covering both Family Court and Youth Court jurisdictions will keep you busy.  Additionally, the team works collaboratively with each other ensuring that kaimahi and rangatahi have significant support to provide the best practice and outcomes.

As part of this team, staff applying are expected to have good knowledge of either the Family or Youth Court arena's and have a proven ability to work with highly complex cases.  Often rangatahi involved with the team require creative plans and staff need to be able to adapt and create pathways for rangatahi and their whanau.

The Kia Manawanui team objectives include:

  • Stabilising rangatahi - accessing options across the continuum of care
  • Engaging rangatahi - identifying the risks, strengths and needs of young people (whakapapa, whanaungatanga, mana tamaiti, safety, health, education, identity, and wellbeing)
  • Developing individual plans with rangatahi in conjunction with their whanau and professional support network.
  • Implementing, monitoring, and managing the individual plans for each Rangatahi
  • Reviewing plans to determine any changes required and to ensure goals are achieved

In addition to working alongside a supportive team, staff in the Kia Manawanui team have frequent supervision as well as training in addition to the regular Oranga Tamariki staff training (such as training in Motivational Interviewing, Intensive Wraparound Service Programme and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy).

  • Social work registration and annual practicing certificate
