We are looking for a Senior Architect (Electrical) to join Edvance UK. Edvance is a joint venture between EDF and Framatone and is responsible for the design of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and for the design of the EPR2, an optimized EPR model incorporating the feedback from the ongoing EPR projects. Following on from the success of HPC, the Sizewell C (SZC) Project is a ~£20bn nuclear new build project in Suffolk, and work on the replication strategy and some early design studies is already underway.

As a Senior Architect (Electrical), you will be responsible and accountable for the delivery in cost, time and quality of all engineering services within your scope of work.

You will implements the best solutions to meet the needs of the project in relation to the Client (SZC Client Nuclear Island Programme) and the other leads of the SZC project organization in Edvance; and rely on the expertise of the technical departments of Engineering Directorate (DIT) of Edvance.

As a Senior Architect, you will be based in the UK (Bristol) and will be required to travel ad hoc to France (mainly Paris), London and the Sizewell site.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Producing deliverables or studies in response to customer needs on time and in compliance with quality and cost objectives.
  • Design of the products (such as systems and components) under your responsibility and in line with the replication strategy adopted for the project:
    • Verification of the design and replicability requirements.
    • Monitoring of design changes in the context of SZC.
    • Monitoring of plant performances, for the portion under your responsibility, notably electrical load list.
    • Monitoring of the integration and verification / validation phases.
  • Implementation of the SZC project strategy through adequate project planning, using operational procedures (transfer of HPC data, justification methods, implementation of design changes).
  • Localisation of engineering activities in the UK, in agreement with technical departments in DIT while guaranteeing the performance of the project.
  • Management of interfaces with the client under the terms of the contract.
  • Management of internal interfaces with other interested stakeholders within Edvance,
  • Management of risks and opportunities your area of responsibility.
  • Management of costs of its area of responsibility.
  • Management of skills and competences needed to perform the works, in relation with the discipline managers.

 

Who you are…

Your background may include some of the following:

  • Qualified to degree level in a relevant Engineering subject or equivalent.
  • Proven successful experience in Nuclear Engineering, with focus on Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of PWR design, EPR design in UK context.
  • Experience in the management of multi-disciplinary teams on large projects.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of System Engineering principles.
  • Able to seek clarification from multiple stakeholders in order to prioritize, paying attention to the wider context to inform decisions to minimize schedule and cost implications.
  • High level of autonomy.
  • Ability to have a strategic approach, adapted to the context and the client expectations.
  • Change management skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Is able to share technical knowledge with team members to help them grow.
  • Enjoys a ambitious technical environment with multiple and urgent demands.
  • Team player with an open mind and a readiness to work on a multi-cultural context.
